Zira's question threw Leah for a loop inside her mind. Where did that come from? Intrusive thoughts of her time with Ranka broke in, but again, were shoved aside. Even with those efforts, there was a sharp pang in her heart while her exterior remained mute to the emotions. Concealing emotions was something she had worked hard on, but her sibling was the only one who could see past the facade. Leah sighed out through her nose.
Caught.
"I did." Leah's shoulders dropped, "Still do and probably always will." She doffed her gray coat, tossed it onto the empty space next to Zira, took a seat, and got comfortable, "But, he's my past and I have to look to the future now." Even though the past is difficult to let go of sometimes.
Leah nudged her sister, and decided to change the subject. Her prior heart throbs and heart breaks weren't near as important right now. "So, did my suggestion work at all? Any difference?"

Zira felt bad for even asking the question, but at least she didn't get a scolding or anything. Amoura - Leah, which she would have to get used to saying, wasn't one that drew to anger very easily. Zira was thankful for that.
"It didn't really work on the thoughts, not sure about emotions. I couldn't tell if I was blocking it or you were just feeling indifferent."
Zira didn't know how she was going to get this under control. A part of her wanted to give up and just go into isolation, but a voice inside her head, which belonged to her for a change, told her she shouldn't give up. She had to keep on fighting.
"What if I just focused on my own thoughts?"

"Damn," Leah swore under her breath. It was her best suggestion that came to mind in the moment; she would have to consider things further. While she pondered on another possible exercise, Zira came up with something better. Leah's eyebrows flew up. It could work.
"Try that. When you're ready, let me know."
Leah had some strong memories in mind that she would replay for her. She thought of the frustrating dead ends when she couldn't find her sister. Sometimes, the anger was so palpable, she felt she could have leveled the entire area where she stood.
Would Zira sense that?

Zira began to focus on her own thoughts and emotions. They both sealed in frustration and wasn't pleasant, but the important thing was they were hers and hers alone. She was almost sure it would work like a charm, until a sudden burst of anger came out of nowhere. Anger and frustration. At first she couldn't tell if that was her own or Leah's, but the more she felt it, the more she realized she was still feeling what Leah was feeling, and then the thoughts soon followed. She groaned and kicked air on the rock she was sitting on as she looked back at Leah.
"It didn't work. I thought for sure it would."

"Don't rush progress."
Leah knew from experience that progress came in baby steps and not giant leaps.
"I think you should stay in this area and practice different techniques until you find what works for you. I don't have to go anywhere for a while, so I'll help in any way I can." It was ideal. Few souls would traverse such an unwelcoming terrain, unless they were like herself and Zira. There was one issue, however. Leah would have to leave Zira here and there to feed. She could go a few days at most.
"What about relaxing? Maybe those thoughts come in because you feel anxious?"
If they had to verge into ridiculous theories, then they would go there. Whatever it takes.
