Name: Sparda Alias: Legendary Dark Knight, Cain Redgrave Age: Unknown Gender: Male Race: Demon Alignment: Chaotic Good Pre-existing or Original: Pre-ex Date of Birth: Unknown Place of Birth:Unknown Physical Appearance: Sparda’s human disguise is that of a caucasian man standing at a shade over six feet in height, with striking blue eyes and stark white hair. He favours formal attire in fashion, or smart-casual at the very least, beneath which is a body that, while lean and powerfully athletic, gives no sign of his otherworldly physical capability. His true form towers at seven feet and four inches. Humanoid in overall shape, his head is framed by a pair of thick, goat-like horns that curve forward. His feet end in cloven hooves, and armour-like adornments cover his body. Furled across his back like a cloak are three pairs of bat-like wings. Pic Base:Special Abilities:- Superhuman Physical Capability: Even in his human guise, Sparda is capable of feats of strength, speed, and reflex that are beyond even the peak of normal human ability. His senses are also far sharper than a human’s. In his true form and the fullness of his power, these abilities are magnified even further.
- Superhuman Resilience and Regeneration: Sparda’s physical durability enables him not only to shrug off impacts and attacks that would inflict grievous injury on a normal human body, but to continue to move and act in spite of injuries he may sustain regardless. His ability to heal from even wounds that border on fatal is highly accelerated, and can be amplified further by means of uninterrupted rest and concentration. There are limits to this resilience, such that he can still be overwhelmed and endangered by catastrophic bodily damage. He cannot regenerate lost limbs, though they can be reattached with some rest if salvaged.
- Devil Trigger: As a result of sacrifices made long ago to protect his home from the malicious advances of its underworld, the majority of Sparda’s enormous magical power is lost to him; he can only return to his true form for a limited time, a process which is more and more taxing on his body the longer he sustains it. Thus he reserves his full power as a trump card to be used against the direst threats.
- Magic: An expert occultist and demonologist, Sparda is capable of performing feats of discrete magic, bending his demonic power to specific ends. He can perform rituals to place protective wards on places and people, scry on distant locales that are known to him, and store his weapons and tools in pocket dimensions, among many other applications.
Weapons:- Cronus: A Devil Arm forged from the soul of a ferocious knight demon, taking the form of a massive, tapered greatsword. The weapon can focus magical power into a wreath of burning energy along its edge, greatly amplifying its already formidable cutting power, and project this energy around the wielder’s body as a versatile offensive and defensive tool.
- Fenrir: Forged from the soul of a wolf demon renowned as a relentless hunter, this Devil Arm takes the form of a saber-style sword. Striking with the grace and hungry power of the wolf, this sword can conjure plumes of white flame that move as if of their own volition to hunt foes down and bar their escape, holding them at the wolf’s mercy.
- Jormungandr: This Devil Arm renders the soul of an ancient serpentine demon into a massive revolver whose shots can take on a variety of properties, from focused armour-piercing capability to buckshot-like sprays of shrapnel to exploding incendiary shells.
History:In the world which he calls home, Sparda was a figure of apocryphal myth, a demon of singular power who saved humanity from the predations of his own demonic brethren two thousand years ago – hailed by humans as the Legendary Dark Knight, and branded a traitor by all of his monstrous kin. “Waking up to justice” all those centuries ago, he rose up alone in rebellion against his own kind, defeating the demon king Mundus and his legions and sealing the underworld away from the human realm. Sensing that he himself had grown too powerful, Sparda struck out to lock himself away as well by shutting down a major means of invasion into the human world; the Temen-ni-gru, a colossal, unholy tower constructed by devil worshippers to serve as a portal between the realms. In a complex ritual, the Dark Knight imprisoned seven ancient demons representing the Seven Sins as his first seal upon the tower, locked away the tower’s own demonic gatekeepers, and spilled his own blood and that of a pure mortal priestess. As a last layer of security, Sparda broke apart the final seal – his own sword – by sealing most of its latent power into the two halves of an amulet which would need to be reunited to awaken the weapon. Surviving over centuries in his self-imposed exile, Sparda fashioned new weapons for himself, harnessing the power of the mightiest of those demons who sought the traitor’s head. The knight-errant Cronus, the relentless archwolf Fenrir, and the titanic serpent Jormungandr fell before the Dark Knight’s irrepressible power, and their very souls were reshaped to form Devil Arms – a breed of unique and extremely deadly weapons, given shape from demonic souls. With these weapons, Sparda would eventually seek his freedom, returning to the human world. He lived for a time as a feudal lord of the isolated island nation of Fortuna. During this time, he repelled a demonic invasion of the human world through the monolithic Hellgate, which he sealed using the power of one of his own Devil Arms, the lethal katana Yamato. In more modern times would later rise the Order of the Sword, a religious body serving as Fortuna’s government and church alike, which deified and worshipped Sparda as a saviour. Much later, living now among mortals in a human guise, the Dark Knight found love in a human woman named Eva. She bore him twin sons, Dante and Vergil, half-demon prodigies who would later become legends in their own right, though their father would never get the chance to see it. He bequeathed to each of the boys one half of the Perfect Amulet, and one of his Devil Arms; to Vergil, the elegant Yamato, and to Dante, the fierce greatsword Rebellion. The boys were yet young when their parents were lost to them. The demon king Mundus was on the rise once more, and had learned that his old nemesis now had a family. Weaklings to be stolen from him in revenge. Mundus dispatched a legion of minions to descend upon the Sparda family home with one mission: make the traitor watch his family be slaughtered, then snuff him out as well. Eva, fearless to the last, resisted her attackers just long enough to try to ensure that her sons would be safe. Dante, hidden away, survived the assault. Vergil vanished altogether. Sparda was presumed to have perished as well, but the truth is something quite stranger. One of the demonic invaders attempted to lock Sparda away within a magical prison, seeking to render him helpless to save his family from their fate. Sparda fought back with magic of his own, but the spells intermingled and worked against each other in a most unexpected way, and what was intended to be a prison was twisted instead into an uncontrollable portal that whisked the Dark Knight away to a place unknown. He awoke in a city wholly unfamiliar to him – an Earth that was not his own. For a mercy, his Devil Arms and true power still remained with him, so he at least wasn’t defenceless. He made the best of it, altering his human guise, adopting a new alias, and striking out to get his bearings and eke out a place for himself while he began working out what exactly had happened to him and how he may find his way home. Today, Cain Redgrave is a renowned freelance bodyguard and private investigator. His job recently got a lot stranger.
